You can try ProtectMyID free for 30 days and it only costs $9.95 thereafter. You are not actually charged until after the 30-day trial period. The down side to this service is that when you subscribe you only get a copy of your Experian credit report and score. Even though this service monitors all three credit bureaus, it does not share the other reports with you unless there is a problem.
ProtectMyID monitors your credit report on a daily basis and tracks information such as new accounts, public records, address changes, potentially negative information, and any new inquiries. They will send you email alerts when changes are detected on your credit report that may impact your rating. Actually, even if nothing is going on with your credit report, they will still send you “all clear” emails to let you know all is well.
They monitor the three credit bureaus and report new accounts opened in your name, new applications for credit, address changes, public record changes, and potentially negative information on your credit report.
If fraudulent information is detected on your credit report, ProtectMyID will help you to cancel credit and debit cards, submit a police report and contacting credit bureaus to setup fraud alerts and freeze your credit report.
ProtectMyID offers a $1 million product guarantee which is essentially an insurance policy. This guarantee will reimburse you for specific expenses incurred as a result of identity theft while you are using ProtectMyID. Become familiar with exactly which expenses are covered by reading more about the guarantee on the website.
For an additional $6.95 per month you can add ChildSecure. This service monitors your child’s credit information and alerts you if someone tries to apply for credit using your child’s information.
They also provide a service called CardSafe. This is used to register your credit and debit cards so they are protected if lost or stolen. This is included for ProtectMyID customers at no additional cost.
There are no business solutions available with ProtectMyID.com.
Friendly assistance is available via telephone or email, and they offer a rather extensive FAQ section. Support is available from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday – Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekends (Pacific Time).
While ProtectMyID offers several impressive features to protect consumers from identity theft, they don’t offer a product that includes all three credit reports and scores. If you just want a quick glimpse at your Experian credit report this product should work for you.
